The longer story

OK, here is the longer story. I grew up in a believing Adventist family. My father was a pastor. I grew up with the Bible. My parents told me the Bible stories, I heard them in church, and I read them myself. Some of the Bible stories are truly amazing. Especially the story of Jesus!

As I grew up, I decided to study in more depth. I went to an Adventist college and did a double major, in Religion and History. I loved both subjects. Eventually I decided to focus on the former and did an MA in Religion, and eventually a PhD in Theology.

I have come to the conclusion that the Bible is the most amazing book ever written. In fact it is not one book. It is a collection of 66 different books.

The Bible has been studied more than any other book in the history of our world. Every Bible book, every chapter, every verse, indeed every word, has been studied, analyzed, and written upon. Is there anything else to know?

Despite all the work that has been done, the Bible continues to amaze us. More studies are being done, more books are being written about the Bible, more beautiful things are being discovered. The Bible is a treasure trove inviting all interested to come discover beautiful things about God, about our own nature, about the world we live in.

Christians of all denominations study the Bible. In fact, even atheists study the Bible. And they do not always come to the same conclusion. That is part of the beauty of the Bible. It is not a textbook that tells you step by step what to believe. Studying it is a journey of exploration. The more you study, the more enlightened your mind becomes and you discover beautiful truths about the world around us. But since it is not written in textbook style, it happens that people reach different conclusions.

Understand the Bible

In my study and personal spiritual experience, I have become convinced that the Adventist outlook is the best to understand the Bible. Seventh Day Adventist beliefs make a lot of common sense and are deeply rooted in the Bible.

On the internet you can find many websites that explain Seventh Day Adventist beliefs. As I pastor, and because I enjoy writing, i decided to prepare my own set of study guides. I have used these in helping people get to know the Bible better, and people wanting to be baptized. And now I put them here before you for your review and study.

They are written in simple language so that everyone can read them and understand. And yet the truths within them are truly astounding.

If you read them thoughtfully and prayerfully, you will get in a nutshell answers to life's biggest questions. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Why is our world in such a mess?  Will things ever get better? What lies ahead in the future? And many more.

I hope these pages will be a blessing to you. If while reading you have any questions; or it you want to share some of your thoughts with me; or if you disagree and want to enlighten me, I will be more than happy to hear your comments. You can use the form below to communicate with us.
